Kanagawa University Measures with Regard to Continued Spread of COVID-19 (From 2 August Onwards)

The Japanese Government has announced that it had been decided that a COVID-19 state of emergency will once again be issued for Kanagawa Prefecture from Monday 2 August to Sunday 12 September.

However, at Kanagawa University, we will continue with our current COVID-19 countermeasures on each campus to ensure the safety of our students and staff. At the same time we will continue with the class structure for First Semester for any classes held until the end of the Summer Vacation period. The class style for the summer intensive classes will vary depending on the type of class so we ask our students to refer to the latest notices when taking classes.

With regard to classes for Second (Fall) Semester, please refer to the notices on WeB St@tion before classes commence.

The number of infected people and close contacts among current students and university staff is increasing. In addition to infection control measures in the classroom, please try to prevent infection by yourself outside of class. Recently, spread of variants of the virus has become more prevalent and cases of young people getting the virus and even developing serious symptoms have increased. Variants seem to have higher chances of aerosol infection so please avoid conversation in closed spaces such as elevators and, when eating, eat alone and silently.

In addition to looking after your own health, at the same time make sure you look after the health of the people around you and act rationally, following the principles of “don’t get infected/don’t infect others”. If you feel even slightly unwell, do not go outside and monitor your situation carefully. We wish that all of you will act rationally and appreciate your cooperation.
