Copying of library materials is allowed only within the limits of the copyright law of Japan, Article 31 must not infringe on the rights of the copyright holder. Following these guidelines will help ensure compliance with copyright laws. Use the copy machines equipped in the libraries.
- Copy machines in the library use only for copying library materials, not use for copying personal notes or other non-library materials.
- The purpose of any copying is limited to research and or study. (Not for the purpose with the entertainment or distribution for profit are prohibited.)
- An entire published book or work cannot be photocopied, only a copy of part. You are allowed to photocopy copyrighted materials (such as published works of an author who is still alive or died within the 70 years).
- As for an article in the latest issue of a periodical, only up to half of it can be copied. However, all of the article can be copied after the next issue of the periodical has been published or after at least 3 months have passed since the current issue was published. It is not permitted copying more than one-half of a publication except the end of a period of 70 years following the death of the author. It is not permitted to copy the all pages.
- Multiple copies of the same material are prohibited.
