The Welcome Party for New International Students was held at each campus as follows.
In the evening of Monday, April 10, the Welcome Party for New International Students was held and 55 new international students (including graduate school and research students), 57 exchange students, 44 tutors, 22 academic and administrative staff members attended, 178 attendees in total.
Following welcoming remarks from Prof. Akihiro MATOBA,Director of the International Center, the official representatives of the university were introduced, after which all of the new international students were in turn introduced. Then, as the representative of all new international students, Linzi LI of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, China, delivered a message to the academic and administrative staff in Japanese.
Interaction between the international students and KU students and staff over dinner was very lively. At the closing of proceedings, International Center committee member, Prof. Kazunobu OYAMA, provided some words of encouragement and the party ended on a high note.
Shonan Hiratsuka Campus
In the evening of Friday, April 14, the Welcome Party for New International Students was held at Shonan Hiratsuka Campus. For the 2017 academic year, a total of 30 international students began studies at the campus: 22 in the Faculty of Business Administration, 3 students in the Faculty of Science, 4 students in the Graduate School of Business Administration and 1 student in the Graduate School of Science. In addition 5 exchange students also began studies and will be here until the summer: 2 undergraduates from AIMST University (Malaysia), 2 undergraduates from the Higher Education Institution of the Province of Liège (Belgium) and 1 postgraduate from Clausthal University of Technology (Germany). The new international students, the student tutors who will be supporting them, and related academic and administrative staff members came together for the Welcome Party.
Beginning with welcoming remarks from Prof. Akihiro MATOBA, the party proceeded with a toast from Prof. Kazuhito INOUE representing both the Faculty and the Graduate School of Science, introductions of official representatives followed by the new international students and lively conversation over food, concluding with some words of encouragement to the international students as they begin their studies from Prof. Satoshi OHASHI, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration.
While brief, the students and staff were able to converse freely, with the able support of their tutors and it was a worthwhile event for all.
