Graduate School of Science
(Shonan-Hiratsuka Campus)

Building on the three departments in the undergraduate Faculty of Science, the Graduate School of Science offers three courses: Information Sciences, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences. The academic field of science is not only advancing at a rapid pace, but is also undergoing a process of integration and further specialization. In order to correspond these trend, the graduate school aims to educate students making discoveries and inventions that result in technological innovation by utilizing basic scientific theories and applications flexibly.

Course of Information Sciences

Bridging the two fields of information science and experimental/computational science, this course offers education and research in the following three fields: Fundamental Computational Mathematics, Experimental and Computational Science, and Computing Systems Science. The course is designed to foster problem-solving skills and a solid grasp of mathematics and the laws of nature.

Course of Chemistry

To train individuals to take the lead in exploring new materials and related fields, this course is divided into the three fields of Synthetic Chemistry, Analytic Chemistry, and Structural Chemistry, which provide students with theoretical and specialized knowledge.

Course of Biological Sciences

In consideration of the hierarchical organization of life phenomena, we conduct education and research in three fields, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, and Population Biology. Our flexible curriculum offers students opportunities to study about each of three fields as well as boundary areas where these fields overlap.
