Students in this program not only improve their linguistic abilities but deepen their understanding of the essential nature of language through the study of linguistics, literature, and culture.

Course of English Language and Literature

Research and instruction is divided into two areas: English Language, which investigates variants of English, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics; and Anglo-American Literature, which concentrates on critical theory, comparative literature, and the nexus between literature and linguistics.

Course of Chinese Language and Culture

This course is also divided into two areas: Chinese Language, which focuses on various issues associated with semantics, syntax, and sociolinguistics, as well as historical usage and phonemes; and Chinese History and Culture, which emphasizes early-modern and modern history, society, thought, literature, folk art, and other areas of interest.
