Faculty of Business Administration
(Shonan-Hiratsuka Campus)

The Faculty of Business Administration imparts to students the theoretical understanding and business skills they need to thrive in various business management cultures found throughout the world. The faculty’s goal is to nurture problem-solving businesspeople who can express themselves and contribute to the development of the international community.

Department of International Business and Management

Building on the foundation of business administration, this department gives priority to information education, the improvement of language ability, and internships to help students acquire the skills they need to function effectively in an international context.

The department’s information processing programs, including Introduction to Programming and Theory of Information System Design, are geared toward practical application to help students master the use of the computer as a tool. Its study abroad programs include exchange agreements with universities in eight different countries, providing students with the opportunity to have a month-long home stay or dormitory experience while attending lectures on culture, history and business administration. These programs deepen students’ understanding of other cultures while improving their foreign language skills.

Also, with the cooperation of many corporations and organizations, the department implements internships that are part of a fully accredited program that provides practical, "real-world" experience. Participants spend several weeks (usually during summer vacation) working as trainees at companies, public institutions, NPOs, and other organizations where they can put their knowledge and theoretical understanding of business administration to actual use. This provides them with a valuable opportunity to reflect both on their aptitude and on their work values.

To help ensure systematic and efficient learning, the department offers the following five courses that cover a wide range of subject matter.

Management Course

This course focuses on the theory and methodology of corporate administration and management in the international community. Emphasis is placed on overall management, particularly regarding the allocation and utilization of managerial resources.

Accounting Course

This course provides training for students interested in becoming accounting specialists, including those seeking certification as CPAs and tax accountants, as well as management consultants and in-house corporate accountants.

Business Administration Environment Course

Students in this course gain a cross-sectional understanding of the business administration environment. They study practical analysis, prediction of future changes, ways in which these affect company activity, and countermeasures to be taken, all with the aim of nurturing the ability to handle unexpected changes and challenges.

International Communication Course

This course helps students develop the ability to communicate in the context of international business administration, with an emphasis on the differences encountered in different countries, languages and ways of thought. Through links with overseas schools, it also offers a study abroad program.

Sports and Management Course

Competitive sports are included as part of the curriculum in this course, combining a focus on systematic, specialized knowledge of sports science with elements required by business administrators.
