The announcement that Kanagawa University will be the prospective developer in the “Minato Mirai 21 Central District 43rd Block” was made at a press conference held today at 14:00 in Yokohama City Hall.
The conference opened with an announcement by Fumiko Hayashi, Mayor of the City of Yokohama, that Kanagawa University had been chosen as a prospective developer. The mayor then provided a briefing on the future “Creative and Interactive” campus that fuses “international and Japan,” as had been proposed by the University.
This was followed by a briefing on the university’s “Minato Mirai Campus (provisional name) Project” provided by Yukinobu Masano, Chairperson of the University, and Yoshio Kaneko, President of the University.
Reasons for selection
This proposal was recognized as an appropriate and attractive project for the Minato Mirai 21 District and signifies the advancement of a university originating in Yokohama. It creates an intellectual space in the district, brings global vigor to the area and carries the potential for cooperation between local communities and industrial, governmental and academic entities.
