Japanese Language Learning

Kanagawa University provides support such as Japanese language learning support and academic writing support that is conducted by Japanese language teachers for individuals concerned about their Japanese ability, such as international students and returnee students. Extra support is also provided such as the following:
assistance with study plans; assistance with preparing reports; assistance with presentations; Japanese Language Proficiency Test and BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test preparation; and loan of study-aid books, books and CDs.

Japanese Language Learning Support

The following support is provided by Japanese Language teachers for international students and returnee students.

  1. Courses with particular purpose for study (JLPT (N1, N2) Strategy Courses etc.)
  2. Private or small group lessons
  3. Academic writing support

Regarding 1. Courses with particular purpose for study and 2. Private or small group lessons

  • There are no credits or academic results.
  • Though you can participate from midway through the course, please try to continue to participate in the class for your Japanese language proficiency.

Courses Level
① N1 Strategy Course【Online】 JLPT N2~
Course aimed at passing JLPT N1 through exercises in each field.
② Reading & Writing In person【Online】 JLPT N3~
Students will gain the skills to logically structure the reports and papers that are necessary as a university student and to create the sentence forms necessary for such reports and papers. The course is for regular undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.
③ Listening & Speaking【Online】 JLPT N3~
Practicing listening in Japanese, learning basics of making speeches and presentations.
④ Japanese Learned Through the News【Online】 JLPT N2~
Learning Japanese society from daily news and studying basic knowledge and terminology.

Private or small group lessons are also provided. Please contact Japanese language support teacher or the staff at International Center if you wish to participate.

[3. Academic Writing Support]

Academic writing support is designed for students to receive advice from a Japanese Language Support teacher about Japanese expression of your reports, presentations, and other documents.

Please Participate in International Events

Joining in international related events at the International Center will increase the opportunities for you to speak Japanese.

Books and Study-aid books at International Center

There are books and study-aid books for Japanese study at the International Center on each campus.

 

Other information

It is recommended to watch DVDs at Audio-Visual Rooms of the Library which can be found on Yokohama Campus, (temporarily closed for renovation) and the Shonan Hiratsuka Campus.
